PRODUCTION
Superconductors, used for cables, are based on the superconducting BiSrCaCuO material, and manufactured as tapes with lengths of up to 1 km or more. The tapes are app. 0.2 mm thick and x 3 mm wide. The superconducting tapes are made as a composite with superconducting ceramic fibers embedded in a silver matrix. The production of tapes can be illustrated with the following steps:
